Timberjaks off to stronger start this season as young team builds momentum
The Prairie Junior Hockey League season is now ten games in for the Prince Albert Timberjaks who have a record of three wins, six losses and one overtime loss, which is a better start than last year, according to the team’s president and governor Ken Malenfant.
“We’re a young team again. So, I think we’ve cut our teeth a little bit now, and the guys are competing hard, and there’s no ‘give up’ on this team this year, which is nice to see. They compete hard to the end.”
Although the current record puts them at the bottom of the northern division standings, there are still 35 games ahead, which Malenfant said is plenty of time to identify what’s working and what isn’t.
“We’re still just trying to see who meshes with who, and it changes week to week. Sometimes you think you find a great combination and then [coaches] Stef and Kim kind of tweak things a bit and try it out the next game, and sometimes it doesn’t always gel,” said Malenfant. “So it’s going to be a work in progress for a while.”
