A pair of North Battleford men are facing dozens of charges after a series of early-morning police raids turned up firearms, cocaine, and a crossbow.

Officers with Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team–Gang Task Force, supported by the Critical Incident Response Team, executed three search warrants on Oct. 25 as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Around 5:30 a.m., police entered a home on 107 Street where an armed man allegedly pointed a gun at an officer before retreating into the residence. The weapon was not fired and no one was injured. The suspect was arrested along with four other men and two women.

Investigators later searched another home on 107 Street and two vehicles on 108 Street. In total, they seized about 176 grams of cocaine, three firearms, two replica guns, a crossbow, body armour, bear spray, and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Thirty-eight-year-old Landon Gallie is charged with 32 offences, including 19 counts of weapons possession contrary to order, assaulting a police officer, and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

Twenty-four-year-old Talon Meechance faces eight charges, including multiple firearms offences, failing to comply with an undertaking, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Five other individuals who were taken into custody were later released without charge.

Both accused appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Oct. 27.

“Using targeted investigative tactics, officers from two specialized RCMP teams identified several search locations tied to an active drug trafficking investigation,” said S/Sgt. Kory Davidsen, the acting senior investigative officer with the province RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team.

“These teams’ skills and training continue to make a difference in public safety, removing illegal drugs and firearms from the streets.”
