Battlefords excited to see familiar favourite reopen in the community

Keith and Beth Gregson owned the dollar store from 2001 to 2015, and after many years in the retail industry, they retired. But after missing their customers, they couldn’t resist the urge to revive the shop with renovations and new stock.

The couple said they enjoyed being part of the community and offering good service.

“We both feel that’s something that’s lacking these days is customer service, and that’s one thing we’re going to offer is good customer service,” said Keith.

The Gregson’s said they didn’t want to see the store go to someone who potentially wouldn’t care for it as much as they did. They added that they realized the potential of the Discovery Co-op Mall location and are enthusiastic for the fresh start.

Many recent renovations have helped to restore the business, including a new checkout area, LED lighting, and slat walls. The couple has also decided to upgrade to better quality items for their baby and pet sections. Keith said the craft section has always been busier than the rest, so bringing in more products and adding another shelving unit was a priority.

“We’ve got an expanded balloon center; we got into new product lines. There’s a lot of new products, a lot of new stuff, and we’re going to have to learn a bit of it ourselves. We have everything that a dollar store would have. Plus, we offer a little bit more. So, we have a little bit of higher-end [products].”

However, Keith said they still try to provide customers with options when it comes to reasonably low prices.

Your Dollar Store with More will be officially open to the public on Monday, Nov. 3. They will celebrate with cake and special deals on Nov. 6.
