The Prince Albert Mintos chalked up another tally in the win column Wednesday night, edging the Tisdale Trojans 5-4 in overtime at the Art Hauser Centre.

The win helps P.A. improve to 6-4-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) and marks the Mintos fourth victory in their last five games, with one of those also coming against Tisdale.

The Trojans had the upper hand after one period of play, but not before the Mintos broke the ice. Carter Hryciuk got the party started for P.A. late in the first, however, the Trojan’s Jacob Tait, who originally hails from Prince Albert, answered back less than 40 seconds later to pull the game back to even. Tait would score again, just 21 seconds after his first marker, to put the Trojans out in front after the opening frame.

After Preston Hoppe made it 3-1 Tisdale less than two minutes into the second, Xander Pritchard had an answer for P.A. 16 seconds later, which was also his first goal of the season and first in AAA. The rookies kept rolling in the period as Jakob Schmidt potted his first in AAA a couple moments later to even it up.

While on the power play, Tait notched his third of the game to restore the Trojans’ one-goal lead, before Mintos defenceman Liam Myhre tied it back up with his team leading fifth of the season.

After a scoreless third period, a winner was decided in overtime, coming off the stick of Cruz Stacey for his fourth of the season.

Barret Berger led the scoresheet for P.A. with a trio of assists, and Maxim Cooper also had a multi-point night with two assists of his own. Wyatt Nelson posted 27 saves in goal for his third win of the season.

Wyatt Fleischhacker had 26 saves for the Trojans in the loss, as Tisdale falls to 5-5-1-0 on the year.

The Mintos are back on home ice on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the Estevan Bears to the Art Hauser Centre for a 1:30 p.m. puck drop.
