Playoff run leads to strong financial year for Raiders
The good times for the Prince Albert Raiders have been rolling on the ice to start the 2025-26 season, but that’s piggybacking off a great end to the 2024-25 season, where the Raiders won their first playoff series since the 2018-19 championship run.
But thanks to that playoff run, the Raiders have been enjoying some good times financially. At the team’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, members of the board and a few members of the public went over the financials from last year, along with re-electing board members whose terms had come up.
“The playoffs and the playoff run is everything to the organization in terms of turning a profit like we did today,” said Raiders Business Manager Mike Scissons. “I joked at the time that if Hilty (Max Hildebrand) won Game 5, I might be the first guy on the ice to hug him knowing that the game seven would probably be around the corner, and winning that Game 7 meant a round two, and anytime we can advance in the playoffs, that just leads to the long-term success of the organization, and anytime we can do that, we put ourselves in a good situation for the future.”
The biggest jumps for the Raiders in profits last season showed the big difference in attendance numbers. Between the team’s liquor sales and sales of 50/50 tickets, the team saw an increase of over $230,000 from the season before. That money is all generated in the playoffs, but the team’s success leading in brought bigger crowds and as a result bigger revenues on regular season games.
