Police investigating shooting in La Loche

La Loche RCMP and other supporting units are actively investigating a shooting incident in the community and working to locate and arrest the suspect.

As a result, the public may notice an increased police presence in the community.

Around 5:20 a.m. this morning, Oct. 31, La Loche RCMP received a report of a shooting outside of a home. Police responded and located an injured man who was taken to hospital with injuries described as being serious in nature. Officers determined an altercation occurred between a group fo individuals and a firearm was discharged, injuring the victim. The shooter was a man who fled on foot.

The public is being asked to avoid the areas where police officers are present and follow any police direction provided.

RCMP said an update on the investigation will be provided as soon as they are able, and if an imminent risk to public safety is identified, they will let the public know.
