Women’s Commission to discuss human trafficking concerns with P.A. city council

Nov 2, 2025 | 8:00 AM

Members of Prince Albert city council will soon know more about human trafficking and how much it impacts the city.

Members of the Women’s Commission of the Prince Albert Police Service have made trafficking a priority for some time and have been asked to share their concerns at city hall, which they will do on Monday.

Their planned presentation includes an overview of what constitutes trafficking and how it impacts people and communities here in Prince Albert.

They will share information on services that are already in place to help trafficking victims, such as Mobile Crisis and what the police see and how they respond to it.

Elder Liz Settee and Reverend Nora Vedress, co-chairs of the Commission, will be joined by Diana Wooden, Tanya Tootoosis, Gina Martin, Alicia York and Chief of Police Patrick Nogier or Inspector Craig Mushka.

Information that the committee shared with paNOW last fall shows that the city is home to a high number of people who share the same demographics; they are young Indigenous girls, with almost 75 per cent younger than 25.

The presentation will be made during council’s regular executive committee meeting, which starts at 4 p.m. and can also be viewed live on the city’s website.
