Denare Beach council demanding public inquiry into Wolf Fire response
Denare Beach council released a statement stating they are extremely disappointed in the province’s decision not to hold a public inquiry into the events leading up to the Wolf Fire.
“The Wolf Fire that devastated our community has also devastated the very fabric of our collective well-being,” the release noted.
“The residents of Denare Beach need assurances that the mistakes made will be acknowledged and strict planning and oversight be put in place to protect our community and others from tragic events such as those experienced by wildfire. We (council) will be requesting an immediate meeting with the premier and his ministries to demand the appropriate response, which is a public inquiry.”
The statement adds council has been in touch with Minister of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Tim McLeod and are awaiting confirmation on a date to meet in Regina.
