A man alleged responsible for a fatal crash in Prince Albert, showed up to provincial court on Tuesday on crutches and was surrounded by family members and friends.

Donovan Sibanda’s first court appearance lasted about a minute. The case was adjourned to Nov. 26 to allow time for lawyers to exchange disclosure (evidence).

In relation to the events that occurred on Sept. 17, at the intersection of Marquis Road and second Ave. West, the 24-year-old man is facing a total of charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and dangerous driving.

There were two vehicles involved in the crash. All three occupants of the vehicle that was T-boned were transported to hospital including 28-year-old Shawna Ratt, who later passed away from her injuries.

The other two patients were also seriously injured but were released from hospital after being treated.

The occupant of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The formal reading of the charges was waived by the defence.

Sibanda was previously released on bail and must abide by a number of conditions.
