Prince Albert to receive first real blast of snow, tire shops ready

Nov 5, 2025 | 2:28 PM

Old man winter is knocking at the door.

Environment Canada’s latest forecast for the Prince Albert area indicates snow will begin late Wednesday and continue throughout the day on Thursday. The total amount expected is between five and 10 cm.

Local tire shops have already been busy for weeks. Colin Fraser, Owner of OK Tire, confirmed this is their busiest time of the year.

“We’re booking out right now about 10 days to two weeks and with the snow coming, I’m sure we will be pushing out to three to three-and-a-half weeks”

Eddie Winkel, Assistant Manager at Fountain Tire, also confirmed a busy shop.

“Once the snow hits the ground, the phones are gonna go crazy with all the shops,” he said.

The message from both shops is that you have procrastinated making the changeover, don’t waste another minute. And when asked what the most preferred choice is, winter tires or all seasons, Winkel said it’s both.

“A lot of people are going for the all weather versions, so they dont have to worry about changing them out, and you know there’s still quite a few people that are tried and true winter tires.”

Tim Earing, the Acting Senior Utilities Manager for Prince Albert, confirmed crews are prepared and ready to respond as snow begins to accumulate.

“We’ll be following our established Snow and Ice Control Policy, which means priority will be given to emergency and transit routes to keep traffic moving safely. We ask residents to drive with caution, slow down, and give our plows and graders the space they need to do their work.”

Both the Melfort and North Battleford areas are also expected to get snow on Thursday, with amounts ranging between five and seven centimeters.
