RCMP conduct murder investigation in Snowden

A charge of second degree murder has been laid after a woman’s death in Snowden.

Kevin Searcy, 68, is scheduled to appear Friday in Melfort Provincial Court.

On Wednesday, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Nipawin RCMP received a request for a wellness check at a residence in Snowden.

Officers responded and located 69-year-old Diane Searcy deceased at the residence. Officers secured the scene for further investigation.

Kevin Searcy was arrested at the scene.

RCMP have confirmed the two were known to each other and in a relationship.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continues to investigate.

Snowden is located about 80km. northeast of Prince Albert.

In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Snowden had a population of 15 living in 10 of its 13 total private dwellings.
