House struck by gunfire as RCMP probe shooting on Island Lake First Nation

Nov 7, 2025 | 3:24 PM

Mounties are investigating after shots were fired at a house on Island Lake First Nation earlier this week.

Police say it happened around 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 4, when Loon Lake RCMP received a call from someone needing assistance at a home in the community.

While on their way, officers got multiple reports of vehicles driving erratically in the area — including a silver Ford F-150 truck, a red Ford Escape SUV, and a grey Ford Edge SUV. Moments later, they were told the red SUV had rolled over.

Mounties later found the vehicle in a ditch with no one inside. It was determined to have been stolen from Goodsoil.

When officers reached the home, they learned two vehicles had sped past on a nearby road and someone fired a gun from one of them, striking the house. No injuries were reported.

RCMP say the shooting and erratic driving are believed to be connected, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this incident, who saw the suspect vehicles, or who witnessed suspicious activity on Island Lake First Nation on the evening of Nov. 4, is asked to contact Loon Lake RCMP by calling 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
