For the fourth time, Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation has announced the re-election of Chief Tanya Stone.

Chief Tanya Aguilar-Antiman (Stone) was first elected as leader in 2019. Throughout the election campaign, Stone promised transparency and accountability. She said she will ensure these goals will remain a priority for the next two years of her elected term.

“I often reflect from 2019, the growth of the nation. It’s been a tremendous movement within our Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man,” she said

Along with the Chief, five individuals were elected as councilors: Jacqueline Pashuknunk, Rusty Pashuknunk, Rueben Rowan, Celest Sanders, and Deborah Stone.

“The first meeting that’s going to be taking place is going to be next week and the first meeting is usually when the Chief, myself, assigns portfolios to all the newly elected members. So, I’m really looking forward to that and hearing their areas of requests.”

Stone added she has been overwhelmed with gratitude since the election results were announced.

“It’s a huge honor to serve my people and I’m really grateful for that. It was evident the other night, the number of families that are supportive and continue to be supportive. And that’s how it’s been since 2019 and I will continue to serve my people the best way I possibly can,” Stone said.
