Two men arrested after six robberies in P.A.

Two men have been arrested and face charges following multiple robberies at convenience stores in Prince Albert.

The Prince Albert Police Service Proactive Policing Unit (PPU) led the investigation starting with the first incident on Oct. 22. Police were called to the 600 block of 15th Ave. E. where two men had approached staff with a knife and demanded money and merchandise before fleeing. Just days later, on Oct. 28, the same businesses was robbed, but police could not locate the suspect who had fled.

On Oct. 31, around 11:25 am., a robbery was reported in the 800 block of 5th St. E. Again, the staff was robbed at knife point and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

On Nov. 2, around 11:30 a.m., police were again called to business in the 600 blck of 15th Ave. E for a robbery in progress. The suspect had fled the scene prior to arrival, but victims told police he had confronted them with a knife and demanded money before fleeing. Police used a K9 to try and track the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

While at the previous call, officers were dispatched to another business across the street for a robbery. A suspect with the same description brandished a knife and demanded money, but fled without any money or merchandise.

At 8:55 p.m. the same day, officers responded to a business in the 800 block of 5th St. E. for a robbery in progress. Staff members were threatened with a knife, but when they confronted the suspect, he fled in a dark coloured vehicle.

Police found the suspect vehicle travelling westbound on River Street the next day and were able to arrest the man driving; however, he was later released without charges.

Through further investigation of the six robberies, members of the PPU learned the suspect in all of the occurrences was believed to be the same person. With the assistance of the Crime Reduction Team (CRT), officers were able to locate and arrest one of the suspects, a 28-year-old man, on Nov. 6 on 15th St. W.

The second suspect, 28-year-old Braydon Gibson, was located and arrested by members of the Regina Police Service in Regina on Nov. 12. He has been charged with armed robbery and disguise with intent in relation to one of the robberies in Prince Albert. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Monday.

Meanwhile, Tyson Deschambeault, 28, has been charged with six counts of armed robbery, six counts of disguise with intent, six counts of possession of a weapon and two counts of obstructing a police officer. His next appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court is Tuesday, Nov. 18.

There were no injuries reported during any of the robberies.
