10th annual Christmas Tree Harvest set to start at P.A. National Park

Nov 21, 2025 | 6:00 AM

In an effort that helps with firefighting contingencies in the future, Parks Canada is announcing the start of the 10th annual Christmas Tree Harvest.

Members of the public will be allowed to choose a young spruce or pine tree from the Waskesiu Community Fuel Break (CFB) area from Nov. 22 until Dec. 23.

The CFB is an area of trees surrounding the Waskesiu community that is meant to help slow down any potentially threatening wildfires, and provides time to help evacuate the population or defend the townsite. The yearly Christmas Tree Harvest helps keep the number of flammable coniferous trees to a minimum.

A free Christmas Tree Activity Pass must be picked up at the Visitor Centre prior to cutting down a tree.

A valid park pass from the Visitor Centre is required until Dec. 12 but visitors who have the Canada Strong Pass can gain free admission to the national park from Dec. 12 to Jan. 15, 2026.
