The Meadow Lake Co-op Centre has been named the 2025 Project of the Year by the Project Management Institute’s North Saskatchewan Chapter.

A document prepared for city council says Colliers Project Leaders, which managed construction, submitted the facility for the award earlier this fall, following a council resolution passed Sept. 22 authorizing the nomination.

In a statement to the mayor and city manager, Colliers principal Sandra Masters said the company was “delighted” the project had been selected, noting the award recognizes project management excellence, leadership, innovation, and the delivery of community value.

“Our team members are incredibly proud of having managed the project and even more so of the final product that will serve and enhance your community for years to come,” she wrote.

The $52-million facility, which opened in June 2025 after about 19 months of construction, features an NHL-sized arena with a jumbotron, a state-of-the-art field house for basketball, pickleball and track, and a versatile events centre that serves as a regional hub for sports, recreation and community gatherings.

The centre is booked to host the 2026 Saskatchewan Winter Games and is already drawing everything from high school graduations and cultural celebrations to concerts, trade shows and conventions.

Colliers’ public announcement credited the achievement to collaboration among the project team, the City of Meadow Lake and community stakeholders.

The firm highlighted the contributions of its project managers, Mitchel Kolbeck and Kritika P. Vishnu Ponnappan, as well as the work of consultants, design teams and contractors.

“Their vision and community-driven focus were the foundation of this project’s success.”

The award was announced Oct. 24 during the institute’s annual conference in Saskatoon
