Annual burn of wood pile at Candle Lake landfill starts today

Residents of Candle Lake will notice the smell of burning wood today but are being advised not to worry, Resort Village staff are just burning the clean wood pile at the landfill.
Staff will will be monitoring the fire as it consumes the last year’s accumulation of wood. That will likely take several weeks.
Heavy equipment will be there to restack and add wood and brush as needed.
The Village said that people have done a great job of making sure the wood put in the pil is clean and free of dirt. Much of it comes from contractors clearing lots and residents making their properties FireSmart and tidy.
