December starts with full slate of holiday activities

The runup to Christmas is a busy time of year and 2025 is no different. Below are a list of things to do or places to go for a dose of cheer this holiday season.

December 3

Third annual community Christmas tree lighting 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. @ Memorial Square next to City Hall. Event includes tree lighting, carolers, writing letters to Santa and horse and wagon rides.

December 5

Annual Winter Wonderland will run at the Gateway Mall. Continues on Dec. 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19 and ends on the 20th. Families $35, Adults $13, Children $5. Funds go to the club to support their charitable efforts.

December 6

Last Minute Market – Annual last minute market at Plaza 88. This market runs from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., 888 Central Avenue.

December 13

Holiday songs, R & B, jazz and gospel with the voice of Krystle Dos Santos, an ‘award winning soul powerhouse’. Tickets available by contacting the EA Rawlinson Centre box office.

December 14

Glow, A Christmas Concert. Begins at 4 p.m. at Calvary United Church. Christmas music sung by the Prince Albert Concert Choir. Admission by donation.

December 20

The Prince Albert Band performs their annual Christmas Concert at the John M. Cuelenaere Library at 2 p.m. Their claims to fame include having an entirely original setlist that is not limited to just Christmas music “because not everyone wants to listen to that stuff for an hour straight.”

December 24

Christmas Eve, Santa watch begins with the help of the North American Aerospace Defense command (NORAD). NORAD tracks Santa’s progress on its website but followers can follow by telephone or by downloading the app.

December 25

Christmas Day

Ricky’s All Day Grill – For people having a hard time this Christmas, get a bowl of soup, grilled cheese and coffee for free. Goes from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

December 31

New Year’s Eve party at the Prince Albert Legion. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and include midnight lunch.
