Raiders acquire McCagherty, Man and Orsulak earn World Junior invites
The Prince Albert Raiders are going to see some changes to their lineup over the course of the next few weeks. One change will be the addition of a 19-year-old forward, the other will be less permanent as the two Czechian born players head to camp for the World Juniors.
First with the trade, the Raiders have acquired 6-0 tall, 183 pounds forward Maddix McCagherty in exchange for a fourth round pick in 2026, and a sixth round pick in 2027.
Originally from Kelowna, B.C., McCagherty was originally drafted 25th overall in the second round by the Swift Current Broncos in 2021. He made his debut that season with three games as a 15-year-old, and during his 16-year-old season he bounced between the Broncos, the KIJHL’s Kelowna Chiefs, and the BCHL’s Meritt Centennials.
In his 17-year-old season, McCagherty played full time in the WHL where he was traded partway through the season from Swift Current to the Wenatchee Wild, where he’s played ever since.
