Dec 7, 2025 | 10:44 PM

After a dominant performance in Red Deer on Saturday, the Prince Albert Raiders looked to finish their road swing on a high note Sunday as they took on the Edmonton Oil Kings. The Raiders battled through some adversity, but Daxon Rudolph scored twice to give the Raiders a 4-3 overtime win.

The Oil Kings faked out their fans for the Teddy Bear Toss goal early when Luka’s Sawchyn drove the goal and collided with Michal Orsulak. The puck was in the net, the bears started flying, but the goal was immediately waved off and the Raiders end up with a powerplay.

On the powerplay, the Oil Kings snuck away on a 2-on-0 with Adam Jecho and Miroslav Holinka, but Justice Christensen hustled back in time to disrupt the shot and help Orsulak make the save.

Still on that same powerplay, the Raiders scored at 3:23. Riley Boychuk and Aiden Oiring helped get the puck loose off the left wall to set up a short 2-on-1 with Oiring and Max Heise off the wall. Oiring waited until the last second before feeding Heise, and he buried his 13th of the season.

The Raiders ran into some penalty trouble in the rest of the period, but they killed off all three. On one of the powerplays, the Oil Kings were cycling the puck well and put one behind Orsulak through the crease, the fans thought they scored, and the bears started to rain down to instead kill the momentum instead of a celebration.

After the cleanup, the Oil Kings scored again at 13:37 on their fourth powerplay of the game. Ethan MacKenzie got a little too much room on the right side of the slot and fired around traffic.

The tired Raiders didn’t relent though, and Jonah Sivertson brought the puck ahead and found Maddix McCagherty up the right side. McCagherty fired from the right side of the slot and missed wide. The rebound came behind the net to Owen Corkish on the left, he whacked the rebound behind the net again, and McCagherty tapped it in for his third in three games as a Raider at 13:55.

Then at 14:56 mark, the Raiders took the lead again. Riley Boychuk helped corral the puck in the Raiders zone and got it ahead for Evan Smith, and Smith found Daxon Rudolph heading up ice on a 2-on-1 with Boychuk. Rudolph decided to shoot it himself, and it popped off the blocker and into the back of the net.

At 17:54, the Oil Kings got a break when a shot bounced high in the air off Orsulak, two Raiders collided trying to knock the puck out of the air, and Poul Anderson tucked it into the net.

He fired looking for Oiring in the doorstep, but instead hit a defender and banked it in for Rudolph’s second of the game 48 seconds into overtime.
