The roster for Team SJHL at this year’s Viking Cup was announced Thursday afternoon, and it included a handful of players on northeast teams.

First off, the Melfort Mustangs will be sending a pair of their players to Camrose, Alta. later this month.

Captain Zayden Sadlemyer and assistant captain Bo Eisner have been selected to the roster.

Sadlemyer, a forward, is in his second season with the Mustangs and is tied for the team lead in points with 20. Eisner, his counterpart, is a defenceman in his third season with Melfort, and is also tied for the team lead in points with 20. Eisner’s 20 points as a D-man currently rank seventh in the league.

Also part of the Viking Cup team for the Blue and Green is Director of Player Personnel, Rick Oakes, who will be the General Manager at the event.

Next up are the Humboldt Broncos, who are just sending one player to the tournament, in netminder Charlie Tritt.

Tritt is in his first season in Humboldt and is currently leading the SJHL in goals-against-average, save-percentage, and shutouts, is tied for second in wins, is second in minutes, and is third in saves.

Broncos’ forward and league-leading scorer, Jacob Strizzi, was also chosen to represent the SJHL; however, he is unable to participate due to injury.

Also having one of their players chosen is the Nipawin Hawks, as forward Brendan Olson is on the roster.

Olson is in his first season with the Hawks, after being acquired from the Melville Millonaires early in the year. Olson currently has 16 points through 26 games during the 2025/26 campaign.

And finally, the La Ronge Ice Wolves also had one of their players selected for Team SJHL.

Goaltender Graham Brown will be the other man in net, alongside Tritt. Brown is third in the SJHL in minutes and second in saves.

The 2026 Viking Cup will run from Dec. 28 through Jan. 3.

“The Viking Cup is a showcase event for the SJHL to promote its best and brightest 20-and-under stars to USports and ACAC schools while competing internationally,” said SJHL Commissioner Kyle McIntyre. “Our goal is to both showcase our league’s stars and to open the door for these same players for more post-secondary opportunities in Canada.”
