Three charged following an investigation on Moosomin First Nation

Three individuals have been charged after firearms and stolen property were recovered following an investigation on Moosomin First Nation.

Battlefords RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from Martinson Beach, Sask. on the morning of Dec. 10.

North Battleford Police Dog Services located the stolen vehicle on Moosomin First Nation later that evening. During an attempt to stop the stolen vehicle, the driver collided with the police vehicle while fleeing the scene. Police officers reported no physical injuries.

Officers observed the stolen vehicle pulling into a nearby residence, which is where the driver was arrested, and a search for the occupants began. As a result of the investigation, a second person was arrested at the residence.

In the morning of Dec. 11, Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant for the residence. The search resulted in a third arrest and the following items being seized:

• A revolver-style handgun
• A replica handgun
• Firearm parts
• Hundreds of rounds of ammunition
• Small amounts of methamphetamine
• Drug trafficking paraphernalia

RCMP officers located items believed to be from a break and enter on Dec. 10, including stolen tools, a laptop, and portable radios. A second vehicle was also located, which was reported stolen on Dec. 2.

As a result of the investigation, 50-year-old Leonard Wuttunee from Moosomin First Nation is charged with:

• One count, operation of a conveyance while prohibited
• One count, flight from peace officer
• Two counts, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• One count, weapons/firearms possession contrary to order
• One count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

Cameron Katcheech, 27, from Moosomin First Nation is charged with:

• Two counts, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• Two counts, weapons/firearms possession contrary to order
• Five counts, fail to comply with release order condition

Kaydance Sinclair, 18, from North Battleford is charged with:

• Two counts, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Wuttunee, Katcheech, and Sinclair appeared in court on Dec. 12.
