Smith, Kennedy trades among Wolverines transactions
The Warman Wolverines continue to make moves ahead of the SJHL trade deadline by dealing defenceman Wylie Smith and forward Kane Kennedy to a pair of teams in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
The deals come following the acquisition of defenceman Trevor Oishi from the La Ronge Ice Wolves earlier this week in exchange for a player development fee.
The first of the two saw Kennedy sent to the Neepawa Titans in exchange for a player development fee on Wednesday. The 20 year-old native of Airdrie, Alta., appeared in 30 games for the Wolverines this season, racking up a team-high 12 goals along with 10 assists for 22 points. He was named SJHL Forward of the Week on November 17 after tallying four goals including a hat trick in two games against the Weyburn Red Wings.
Meanwhile, Wylie Smith is on the move once again as he was dealt to the Swan Valley Stampeders on Thursday in exchange for a player development fee. The Carnwood, Alta., product was acquired from the Flin Flon Bombers for the final Notre Dame Hounds campaign at last season’s trade deadline. In 33 games played for Warman, the 2006-born defender tallied one goal and two assists for three points.
