Penalty Minutes Galore

Mustangs blown out in Yorkton

Jan 10, 2026 | 6:43 PM

Not much went right for the Melfort Mustangs Friday night in Yorkton.

The highlight of the game for Melfort came just two minutes into the game when forward Kaleb Binner went post and in on a shorthanded breakaway to open the scoring.

Unfortunately, after that, it was all Terriers, as the home team scored eight straight to take it 8-1.

It was by far the worst loss of the season for the Mustangs, as they’ve now lost four in a row.

Once the game got out of reach, the penalties started to pile up, as 186 total penalty minutes were enforced on 35 combined infractions.

The Stangs went 0-for-3 on their respective power plays, while the Terriers scored at a much higher rate on their man-advantages, going 3-for-6.

The Blue and Green are back in action on Saturday, as they host the Battlefords North Stars at the Northern Lights Palace.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
