Battlefords RCMP are investigating a bear mace incident involving two suspects at a business on 100th Street in North Battleford.

Officers were called to the area at about 10:40 p.m. on Jan. 18 after receiving a report of two armed males inside a business.

RCMP allege the suspects approached two people inside the store and demanded they purchase merchandise for them. One suspect was armed with a knife, while the other was carrying a can of bear mace.

Police said the victims left the business, got into their vehicle and attempted to drive away. As they began driving, the suspects allegedly opened the vehicle door and sprayed bear mace inside.

The victims continued to drive away and did not report any injuries to police.

They have checked the surrounding area for witnesses and video footage. No arrests have been made and no charges have been laid at this time.

Police continue to collect and analyze evidence and are asking the public for help.
