UPDATED: Increased police presence in Cumberland House after morning shooting

UPDATE: Late Thursday afternoon Saskatchewan RCMP reported that the person of interest had been located and arrested.

Police said further details on the investigation will be provided as they are able. Police have also since corrected that the suspect is a male youth, not an adult.

RCMP are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday morning in Cumberland House.

They say there will be an increased police presence in the community in relation to this ongoing investigation, and they are asking residents to avoid areas where police officers are present and to follow police direction provided.

Officers are searching for a person of interest, described as a man in his 20s with black hair and brown eyes. He is known to drive a blue 2008 Chrysler 300 with Saskatchewan license plate 215 NGG.

If you see this vehicle, do not approach it, and instead call 310-RCMP or 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

RCMP say they are unable to provide more information as it is an ongoing investigation, and they will notify the public if there is an imminent risk to public safety.
