Mustangs extend point streak, snap North Stars
In one fell swoop, the Melfort Mustangs both extended their now six-game point streak on Tuesday night, while ending the previous 11-game point streak of the Battlefords North Stars.
Melfort went into North Battleford and climbed away with yet another one-goal road win, this time by a score of 4-3.
“These one-goal wins are a little bit stressful as a coach, but it doesn’t matter if we win five nothing or five four or one nothing because they all count the same. We did a really good job of locking it down towards the end, we had a little bit of a slip-up, and then it got a little closer than it needed to, but it is what it is because we did what we needed to do,” explained assistant coach Clarke Huxley.
“This is what we want to be known as, and I think it’s what a lot of teams have viewed us over the years, and that’s hard work. Plays where our guys shouldn’t have a chance, but they work really hard and don’t stop moving their feet and put themselves into those positions.”
