Snow clearing operations move into school zones

With snow removal on emergency routes completed, and the majority of Priority 2 roads cleared, the focus now shifts to the remaining work within that priority level – school zones.

The City of Prince Albert said snow-clearing operations in school zones began Thursday afternoon, will continue through the weekend, and will likely be completed by the end of the day on Tuesday.

The work follows a recent snowfall that brought approximately 35 centimetres, or 14 inches, of snow to the city.

“In addition, crews have completed median snow lifts on several emergency routes, improving visibility and traffic movement along key corridors,” the City noted in an update online.

The City said it is also reviewing options and operational plans for residential road grading. An update on that will be provided once the current priority routes and school zones are completed.

Residents are reminded that additional snowfall may requires crews to return to priority routes to maintain safe driving conditions before advancing to the next phase of operations.
