Ag Equipment dealers call for free and fair trade post U.S. midterm elections
One of the largest Canada-U.S. trade associations called on Ottawa to make trade with the United States a top priority in its renewed negotiations with Washington.
Associated Equipment Distributors (AED) want tariff certainty, targeted relief for heavy equipment, and a return to the negotiating table.
AED members sell, rent, service and manufacture the equipment used on Canadian farms, construction sites, mines, forests and infrastructure projects. In Canada, AED members account for more than $100 billion in annual revenue, employ over 140,000 people and operate more than 7,200 locations across the North America.
AED President and CEO Brian P. McGuire said the association wants an integrated North American economy. He said tariffs on either side of the border raise costs for the farmers, contractors, miners and builders.
