The report of an assault on Finlayson Island came late afternoon on April 28. A 16-year-old victim was suffering from facial injuries after an altercation with another male and was transported to hospital in Saskatoon.

Sgt. Neil Tremblay said they haven’t spoken to the victim directly, but noted they’ve been informed he’s received treatment for serious, but not life-threatening injuries and that he’s making a full recovery.

“Saskatoon took a statement from him for us,” he said.” He’s recovering from his significant injuries.”

No suspect has yet been identified and the matter remains under investigation. Tremblay said there’s several statements members need to take from people that were there.

“Some names have come up, but there’s a lot of work to do,” he said. “We’ve spoken to five or six witnesses, with more to follow.”

In another incident, the RCMP are investigating what happened in a dispute between two groups of people on the 1400 block of 112th Street on Tuesday evening. There was an altercation between the two groups outside of a home and it was reported that several persons were engaged in a physical altercation.

Tremblay said there first an incident at a parking lot at a business followed up by the same individuals at the residence, turning into another yelling match.

Currently, there are no known injuries and the involved persons have been identified as the investigation continues. No decision on charges has yet been made.

“It’s just a matter of determining you did what as best we can and see if there’s any culpability that can be proven,” Tremblay said. “Multiple people involved, a lot of statements to take.”

He added that police are looking to see if doorbell cameras captured anything.

“It was early at night, possible people may have seen something that they never called in.”

Police were also dispatched to a residence on the 1200 block of 97th Street on April 28. A 911 call reported that a suspect at the location was in possession of a knife and threatening another person at the residence.

A 27-year-old woman was arrested on scene without incident and is facing charges of assault with a weapon and uttering threats. No one was injured during the altercation. Her first scheduled appearance in court with be May 5.
