The Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce appointed a new president following the stepping down of Brent Walker.

Walker had been on the chamber board for two years and had been president for a year and a half as a representative for the Humboldt Co-op. Walker will be leaving the community as he took a new position in Red Deer, Alta.

Walker said he is proud of the chamber’s accomplishments over the last few years and that the future is bright for the region as they achieve their goals.

“Knowing the new directors that joined this year combined with the existing directors I know that I am leaving the Chamber in a great place. It has been excellent getting to know all of you and you will be missed.”

Conexus Branch Manager Tammy Ward was nominated and accepted the role as new president of the board during the meeting. Ward has been with the chamber for four years.

“The chamber has done well to adapt to changing needs within our region and I look forward to continuing that work,” said Ward. “Our current board of directors bring skills that will allow the chamber to look at new opportunities that will support our members as well as create support systems for new and existing businesses within our region.”

The Board of Directors thanked Walker for his time with the Humboldt chamber.
