The ice is back in the rink at North Battleford’s Access Communications Centre as hockey season sits just around the corner for the Battlefords North Stars.

The Stars will host their 2022 main camp on Aug. 25–28 at the ACC, with on-ice sessions Friday onwards open to the public.

The Stars will not have a fall prospect camp this year, instead putting a full focus towards main camp, allowing for a longer look at the 80 players jockeying for a spot with the club this season.

Head coach and general manager, Brayden Klimosko, said he is looking forward to getting back on the ice with the players and anticipates a competitive product from the get-go with a strong crop of roster hopefuls battling it out.

“It should be intense, should be good, and we’ll be able to make the games longer, so we’re hoping to get some fans out to see what the kids are made of right away that weekend,” Klimosko said.

Thursday evening the camp will open with team meetings and fitness testing, followed by scrimmage games and practice sessions throughout the day Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s on-ice action will begin at 2 p.m., and run into the evening with the final sessions wrapping up at 9:45 p.m. Saturday will open with a goalie session at 9 a.m., followed by scrimmages from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, the Top 40 players remaining will compete in the team’s Black and Silver Game at noon.
