Borden track star wins hurdles gold at Summer Games
A local track athlete won gold at the Canada Summer Games.
Borden’s Savannah Sutherland finished first in the 400m hurdles at Canada Games Park on Friday. The 19-year-old spoke about being proud to represent Saskatchewan in her win during media availability at the Games.
“I’m really proud to represent the province, we’re one of the smaller provinces and this just proves we can go out there and compete with all the bigger ones too,” she said in a release. “So, I’m really proud of that.”
The gold medal is the first of the Games for Team Saskatchewan, bring the medal total to 19. Harvey Weber, her coach, also expressed pride in her performance.
