Second suspect charged with first-degree murder in Megan Gallagher death

Sep 26, 2022 | 4:17 PM

The same day as one man made his first court appearance on a charge of killing Megan Gallagher, a second person was arrested in Prince Albert and charged with first-degree murder.

Cheyann Crystal Peeteetuce, 29, was arrested at a correctional facility as she was in custody on another matter. She will appear in Saskatoon tomorrow on the murder charge.

Gallagher was from Saskatoon but had strong family ties in Cumberland House. Her parents were at the courthouse in Saskatoon this morning, disappointed that Robert Thomas, 27, appeared by phone rather than in person.

Thomas was arrested in Prince George, B.C. last week and made his phone appearance from jail. His next court date is October 6.

Along with the two people charged with murder, four other people have been charged with committing an indignity to human remains.

They include James Smith resident John Wayne Sanderson, Roderick Sutherland, Jessica Sutherland and Ernest Whitehead.

Gallagher was last seen alive at a gas station in Saskatoon at about 6 a.m. on September 20, 2020. Her remains have not been found but Saskatoon Police began investigating her disappearance as a homicide several months after she went missing.
