REGINA, SK – The Prince Albert Northern Bears still have the monkey on their backs, falling to the Regina Rebels on Saturday night at the Co-operators Centre.

The Bears failed to get much going offensively, posting just 28 shots compared to Regina’s 51.

Kinley Brassard and Jacquelyne Chief each lit the lamp in the contest, while Chief and Taelyr Ballard each netted a helper.

Brooklyn Nimegeers had herself a night for Regina, netting two goals in the game. Amber Daley and Ashley Breitkreuz also scored for the Rebels, while Greta Henderson had two assists and Avery Gottselig, Berlin Lolacher, and Ashley Grice each had one.

Bears netminder Brooke Archer stopped 37 shots as P.A. now falls to 0-4-0-0 on the campaign.

Rebels goalie Hannah Tresek made 21 saves as Regina pulls into third place in standings with a 2-2-0-0 record on the year.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

A great start for the Bears led to them gaining the lead not too far along in the game. Brassard took a feed from Chief and put it into the back of the net for her first as a Bear and to give P.A. the lead.

The lead wouldn’t last too long after with Regina on the powerplay. Daley stepped up from the point and fired a shot that beat Archer to tie the game.

The second period saw only one goal and that came from Breitkreuz to give the Rebels a 2-1 lead after two.

The game came down to the final ten minutes of the contest where Nimegeers scored her first of the period to extend Regina’s lead to two.

Shortly after, momentum started to shift and the ongoing pressure of the Bears attackers led to Chief putting the puck past Tresek with just six minutes to go.

But Nimegeers wasn’t fazed by the late game push from P.A. and scored her second goal of the night to seal the win for the Rebels, 4-2.

The Bears will look to avoid the weekend sweep against the Rebels in a rematch tomorrow afternoon at the Co-operators Centre.
