REGINA, SK – The Prince Albert Northern Bears have been swept for the second straight weekend after falling to the Regina Avana Rebels 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Co-Operators Centre.

The loss comes 24 hours after losing to the same Rebels team, 4-2 in Regina.

Regina brought the offense on Sunday, managing to put up a league-high of seven goals on the Bears. The Rebels also hung 56 shots on P.A., compared to the 19 that the Bears had.

Kassie Ferster and Jacquelyne Chief scored for P.A. while Tristyn Endicott and Julia Cey each had helpers.

The Rebels on the other hand had 11 different point-getters in the contest with Greta Henderson and Berlin Lolacher being the most notable. They each potted four points in the game, with Henderson netting two goals and two assists while Lolacher had a goal and three assists.

Annika Neufeldt started the game for P.A., making 22 saves on 28 shots before being pulled. Brooke Archer came into the game in the third and made 27 stops as the Bears fall to 0-5-0-0 on the campaign.

Rebels netminder Hannah Tresek made 17 saves and was credited with the win as Regina improves to 3-2-0-0 on the year.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

The game got off to an even start with the contest’s first goal coming with less than five minutes to go in the frame. Despite being in the final minutes of the period, both teams manged to score twice in that short period of time. Regina’s Kadence Dansereau broke the ice before the Bears went back-to-back to take the lead. But the Rebels managed to score in the dying seconds to tie the game at two going into the second.

The middle frame was Regina’s to lose with the Rebels adding four second-period markers with efforts from Henderson, Addison Greve, and Brooklyn Nimegeers. Regina led 6-2 after forty.

The third was much of the same as the second, with the Rebels adding one more for good measure as Regina completed the two-game sweep of the P.A.Northern Bears.

The Bears now have a two-week break to reassess the game plan before they head off to Weyburn for a two-game set against the Gold Wings.
