Tisdale topples Mintos

Mintos drop third straight game, fall to Trojans

Oct 15, 2022 | 9:23 AM

TISDALE, SK – Roper Blanchard and Nolan Patterson each found the back of the net for the Mintos on Friday night but it wasn’t enough offense, falling short to the Tisdale Trojans 4-2 at the Tisdale Recplex.

The loss is the third in a row for the green and gold after falling to the Battlefords Stars 5-0 on Wednesday and to the Regina Pat Canadians 6-1 on Sunday.

Helping out on Blanchard and Patterson’s goals were Konnor Watson, Raydr Wallington, and Caden Dunn who each netted assists in the contest.

Matthew Van Blaricom had a night to remember for the Trojans, netting a hat trick and an assist in the contest. Simon Martin also added a goal while Owen Myhre and Ryder Mucha each potted an assist.

Jayden Kraus was between the pipes for the Mintos and stopped 22 shots in the loss as PA now falls to 3-3-0-0 on the campaign.

Tisdale netminder Brady Kashuba managed 37 saves in the win, helping the Trojans improve to 2-2-0-1 on the year.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

Things started off pretty even in the contest up until the three-quarter mark of the first period. Tisdale’s Martin got the Trojans on the board late in the first and 20 seconds later, they strike again. This time, Van Blaricom found the back of the net as the Tisdale found themselves with an early 2-0 lead.

PA would rally in the second and net an early-period powerplay goal thanks to a Blanchard snipe. But tides quickly shifted and Van Blaricom would go back-to-back to score a hat-trick and give the Trojans a 4-1 lead.

The Mintos would add one more before the period ended with Patterson finding twine for his first in the league.

Unfortunately for PA, however, that’s as close as they would come. Neither team could find the back of the net in the final frame as Tisdale came away with the 4-2 win.

The Mintos are back home for the next contest where they’ll host the Notre Dame Hounds on Sunday afternoon at the Art Hauser Centre.
