Slips and falls among 157 incidents this weekend says Parkland Ambulance

Nov 14, 2022 | 8:00 AM

Parkland Ambulance was keeping busy this weekend.

Paramedics were called out to 157 incidents over the weekend with some of the calls stemming from the same kind of issue.

Parkland Ambulance reported that several of the calls were because of slips and falls related to weather. Although the majority of the injuries were minor, there was one case that saw a 68-year-old sent to hospital with “significant injuries”.

To help reduce these kinds of injuries, paramedics are reminding PA residents of the different ways people can help stay on their feet when walking outside:

• Wear good and proper footwear when you’re outside and take your time from getting to point A to B.

• Keep walkways and sidewalks clear of ice and snow

• Consider safety grips that slip over your shoes/boots when outdoors, and to wear proper footwear indoors to reduce the chance of a fall

• Using walking assists (i.e., walkers, canes, etc.) both indoors and outdoors for those who use them
