Senft campaigning on reducing crime, attracting new businesses
Jack Senft, who is running in the upcoming La Ronge byelection on Nov. 30, believes the number one issue residents currently face is crime and crime prevention.
“I hear it from so many people that so much stuff is happening in town,” he said. “I think we have to do some sort of a revamping of crime watch and having some more talks with the RCMP, maybe even the judicial system. For the basic citizen, I think that’s bothering them right now.”
Senft explained there has been a lot of vandalism in particular, but noted violent crime seems to be a growing issue as well. He’d like to see more done to address crime and to prevent it from occurring in the first place.
If elected to council, attracting new businesses and repairing ailing infrastructure would also be priorities for Senft. He noted the proposed highway corridor expansion project is well overdue and added he supports the revitalization of La Ronge’s downtown core.
