Battleford RCMP’s Crime Reduction Team has arrested four people near Meadow Lake and three of them now face second-degree murder charges.

RCMP has been looking for 31-year-old Trevor Alexander since September 8. He was wanted on a string of charges including sexual assault, forcible confinement, and several firearms-related charges. As part of that investigation, police determined Alexander was at a residence in Eagles Lake, east of Meadow Lake.

On Nov. 12, police arrested Alexander and three other people on outstanding warrants who happened to be there too.

Separately, RCMP Major Crimes were investigating a homicide that took place early in the morning of Nov. 12 on Waterhen Lake First Nation. The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has now charged three people with second-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Jeremy Ernest from Waterhen Lake First Nation.

Charged are Trevor Alexander, 31, of Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation; Hanna Durocher, 28, of Eagles Lake; and Tyson Lasas, 34, of Waterhen Lake First Nation.

The fourth individual arrested, Tasha Opikokew, 23, of Battleford, is charged with accessory after the fact. Trevor Alexander faces an additional charge of aggravated assault.

All four will appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Nov. 17.
