Northlands College signs MOU aimed at enhancing access to education
Northlands College and Ontario-based Northern College have signed a memorandum of understanding to increase access to education in northern and remote communities.
That’s according to a media release issued by Northlands College on Wednesday. It states the agreement will focus on truth and reconciliation through program delivery, as well as foster labour market and economic development, while working to make education more accessible.
The release states this collaborative approach to educational innovation is rooted in both institutions shared experiences and challenges as educators in rural and remote areas of Canada.
“Both Northern and Northlands College’s service regions share a strong commitment to supporting the Indigenization, as well as economic and social capacity development within our service regions, while also supporting employers who operate in both northern Ontario and Saskatchewan to transcend provincial boundaries,” Northlands CEO Karsten Henriksen is quoted.
