How Melfort is celebrating the Christmas season

Dec 6, 2022 | 12:00 PM

For those wanting to get into the holiday spirit, the City of Melfort is hosting a variety of events for all ages.

The Christmas Village is up and running for those looking to enjoy a holiday stroll through the museum. Visitors are able to walk through the lights, warm up by the fire and enjoy a cup of cider.

Not wanting to brave the cold? A drive-thru tour is available by appointment only on Dec 14. Walking tours are available Friday through Sunday until Dec. 18 and on the week of Christmas you can enjoy the tour from Wednesday, Dec. 21 to Friday, Dec. 23.

If the weather is unbearable, you can visit the Christmas Castle located in the historic post office. While touring through the magic of trees and trains, you can enjoy your favourite holiday treats such as candy canes, hot chocolate and apple cider.

For those who enjoy venturing out for a drive, you can enjoy the glitz and glamour of the Twinkle Tour. Home owners and light enthusiasts alike can nominate those who strive to go above and beyond with decor until Dec. 14 with six prizes up for grabs.

The drive-thru Christmas lights tour at the campground is back this weekend for $10 a car. All proceeds are donated to Communities in Bloom, Northeast Pregnancy Options and the Meskanaw 4-H Club.

If you are looking for a more personalized experience with Father Christmas himself, you can join Skate with Santa. On Dec. 17 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Kris Kringle will be taking a break from making toys to help gather donations of non-perishable food items and toys.

Families can cozy up and enjoy children’s Christmas movie night on Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Kerry Vickar Centre CJVR Theater.
