Melfort council approves planning for new library
Melfort city council has taken another step toward building a new library, but a new facility is likely still years away.
At Monday’s meeting councillors accepted a report that calls for a new library to be built by the Kerry Vickar Centre. Council left open the question of whether the library will be attached to the Kerry Vickar Centre, or a separate building.
“They approved the plan, which points to a facility at the KVC,” said city manager Adam Homes. “But when we move to the next stage, and start working on the schematic design and pre-design, we’ll again look at that issue, whether or not it’s a stand alone building, or attached to the KVC.”
