PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Prince Albert Mintos pulled themselves back to 0.500 this past weekend after sweeping the Estevan Bears in back-to-back games at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Mintos fell behind quickly in their first contest on Saturday when the Bears scored twice in the opening period to lead 2-1 going into the intermission. The Bears added another early in the middle frame before PA flipped the script on Estevan where Van Taylor and Abinet Klassen each scored powerplay goals to tie it up going into the third. Only one lone goal was scored in the final period, which was done so by Owen Nelson to give the Mintos the win in game one by a 4-3 decision.

Carson Olsen was the other goal scorer for the Green and Gold while Ashton Tait had two helpers and Taylor and Roper Blanchard each had one.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE (for Saturday)

Game two was much different in terms of starts for the Mintos as they found themselves up two after the first. Logan Pickford potted himself a pair of powerplay goals in the opening frame for his 15th and 16th of the year.

The Bears did get one back in the second before the Mintos scored again. This time it came off the tape of Carson Olsen for his second of the weekend to keep the two-goal lead intact after 40 minutes. Neither team scored in the third as Prince Albert hung on for the 3-1 win.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE (for Sunday)

Brady Holtvogt and Jayden Kraus each split duties in the crease this weekend where they combined for 41 saves to help the Mintos improve to 14-14-0-2 on the campaign.

Kaden Perron had double duties for Estevan, playing in both games where he made 51 combined stops where the Bears fall to 7-16-0-5 on the year.

The Mintos are back on the road for their next matchup when they visit the Regina Pat Canadians on Friday night.
