Using comedy to give back to the community

“It’s a series of skits and funny scenes based mainly on suggestions from the audience and every scene is in sort of a game format,” said the Founder of Off The Cuff, Adreanna Boucher.

The show is about an hour long and is suitable for people of all ages.

So, what led to the decision to donate half the proceeds from the shows to the Library? Boucher said it’s because the community has given so much to her and she wanted to give back to a special place in the city.

“It’s a beautiful little space, it’s a lovely theatre, they host things like free movies one night a week which I think is lovely,” she said. “I know that the city would really benefit from having more programming there and in order to have more programming and increase its versatility, there’s some upgrades that can happen there.”

To add more spaces into their branch, some of those upgrades are already being planned through the Prince Albert Public Library’s “Save our Seats” campaign.

“I approached the library and said I would like to do our improv shows here and in return, I’ll donate half our proceeds to the ‘Save our Seats’ campaign,” said Boucher.

Boucher is hoping the contributions will lead to more prominent spaces in the library and in turn, allow more local theatre groups to use that space.

The Thursday night show starts at 7 p.m.
