Sharks take bite out of personal bests at Regina Prairie Optimist Cup

The Prince Albert Sharks were fast in their return to competition after the Christmas break.

Members of the Prince Albert Sharks resumed training Jan. 3 in preparation for the Prairie Optimist Cup,
held in Regina Jan. 13-15. Ten swimmers from Prince Albert participated in the event.

Myla M. set a new club record in the 50-metre butterfly winning the event for her age group. She also
won the 100-metre butterfly event and 100-metre free. In total, Myla achieved 7 “AA” 8 metres qualifying
for the ManSask championship later this year.

Clara.G swam 100% personal best times at the meet. She earned bronze in the 200-metre freestyle and
50-metre backstroke for her age group. With her backstroke performance, Clara reached the “AA” 8 metre
standard.

Zoe. C swam more than 6 “A” 8 metres standards in her age group and has earned a trip to the Saskatchewan Junior Championships in Moose Jaw next month.

Zoe was second in the 50-metre butterfly, 50-metre backstroke, 50-metre freestyle, 100-metre backstroke, 100 -freestyle and 200-metre freestyle.

Avery. M achieved %100 best personal 8 metres in all of her swims.

Ana. S achieved her first “A” 8 metres in the 50-metre backstroke for the 12-14 year old age group en route
to personal best 8 metres in all her events. She finished fourth in the 100-metre backstroke, fifth in the 50-
metre backstroke.

Sophia.W swam 3 “A” 8 metres at the meet. She recorded a seventh in the 100-metre breaststroke.

Jaxen S. also swam personal bests in all his events and achieved an “A” 8 metre in the 50-metre freestyle.
Jackson. M achieved 2 “A” 8 metres.

“We are pleased with our swimmers’ results and performance,” said Head Coach Hazem Hussein. “Way
to go, Sharks!”
