Raiders improve to 2-0 on BC road trip, down Royals 6-3

VICTORIA, BC – The Prince Albert Raiders extended their win streak to three games on Tuesday night when they cruised past the Victoria Royals 6-3 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena.

The win comes after defeating the Prince George Cougars 4-1 on Saturday night.

Landon Kosior led the scoresheet for the Raiders where he tallied a goal and three assists. Evan Herman had a pair of goals, while Cole Peardon and Keaton Sorensen each had two assists. Aiden Oiring also had two points with a goal and assist. Ryder Ritchie and Harrison Lodewyk were the other goal scorers with Seth Tansem and Hayden Pakkala both added helpers.

Jake Poole and Kalem Parker each had a goal and an assist for the Royals while Alex Thacker had two assists. Matthew Hodson registered the other goal for Victoria while Teague Patton and Carter Dereniwsky collected assists.

Tikhon Chaika made 28 stops in the win to help the Raiders improve to 18-25-3-0 on the campaign.

Brayden Holt and Nicholas Cristiano combined for 20 saves in the game with the Royals falling to 14-29-4-1.

The Royals jumped out to the early lead less than three minutes into the game. Poole potted his 27th of the year to put Victoria up 1-0.

Five minutes later and the Raiders found a way to score on the man advantage. Ritchie fired a missile through traffic from the point to tie the game.

Fast-forward to the final minutes of the period and PA pulled in front while short handed. The Raiders entered the zone on a 3-on-1 and Pakkala, Sorensen, and Kosior went tik-tac-toe to make it 2-1 after one.

The middle period was all PA when the Raiders exploded for three goals courtesy of different goal scorers. Herman potted his third goal in two games while Lodewyk and Oiring each got their first of the trip to make it a four-goal advantage in favour of the Green and Gold.

The Royals managed to get two back in the third with one on a controversial call. Lodewyk was ran from behind into the boards and was slow to get up. No call from the officials and on the ensuing rush the Royals scored. The play went to review and after a short break, it was deemed a good goal. That’s as close as Victoria would get however as Herman added an empty netter to give PA the 6-3 win.

The Raiders are back in action tomorrow night when they take on the Vancouver Giants at 9:00 p.m.
