A one-day trial has been scheduled for a Prince Albert woman on 37 counts of trafficking, obstructing police and gun charges.

Faith Girourard, age 30, will be tried on July 4 in Shellbrook Provincial Court but her lawyer asked to have a bail hearing on February 17.

Girourard has been in custody since her arrest on New Year’s day on Mistawasis First Nation.

She was arrested after Ahtahkakoop RCMP were told about gunshots coming from a boarded-up home in the community earlier that day.

Responding officers saw two men and a woman attempting to flee in a black pickup and arrested just the woman after the truck got stuck in the snow. The two men managed to escape.

Officers later arrested seven people who were in the house and charged them with breaking and entering.

A search of three vehicles at the scene turned up six guns, including a sawed off shotgun, mace, cash and items commonly used in drug trafficking.

Police also found almost 300 grams of meth and more cash after searching the suspect’s purse.

No announcements have been made if the remaining two male suspects have been found and arrested.
