Softball standout, Cooper commits to Western Nebraska Cougars
From her earliest days on the mound, North Battleford’s Kayli Cooper dreamed about one day playing softball on the collegiate stage, a dream now set to come true this fall.
A pitcher who has played the last two seasons with Edmonton’s U17 River City Hornets, Cooper has committed to the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars of the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) for September of 2023, fulfilling a goal she’s been working toward for some time.
“I’ve been thinking about committing for a long time and it’s been a really big dream of mine ever since I really started softball,” she said. “So I’m very excited and very proud of all the work I’ve put in to get here.”
It’s been quite the journey for Cooper to get to this point, which has included a pair of provincial ‘B’ titles locally, prior to making the jump to play A-level ball out of Lloydminster in U16.
