Mintos down Wildcats in Monday matinee

PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Prince Albert Mintos had a successful hunt on Monday afternoon when they took down the Warman Wildcats 3-1 at the Art Hauser Centre.

The win is the second consecutive for the Green and Gold where they shut out the Wildcats in their previous game 3-0.

After a scoreless first period, the floodgates opened early in the second where Carter Cole connected with Konnor Watson to break the deadlock. A short time later, Nolan Patterson got on the board while on the man advantage to double PA’s lead.

Warman did get one back, however, just before the period ended when Cameron Jacobson linked with Noah Mitchell to cut the Mintos lead in half heading into the break. But, that’s as close as the Wildcats got.

Nolan Patterson tallied his second of the game late in third with Scott McLean and Roper Blanchard getting the assists as Prince Albert takes it 3-1.

Brady Holtvogt had 22 saves in the contest to help the Mintos improve to 20-17-0-3 on the campaign.

Luke Brunen made 25 stops in the loss where Warman falls to 22-16-0-3 on the year.

Prince Albert is back at home for their next matchup when they host the Battlefords Stars on Wednesday. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
